A Song on the Wind
Local historian and playwright, Betty Laird, wrote a fictionalized account of
events in Lawrence during the time of Quantrill's raid. The play is at once a love story, the story of the arrival of the
first woman professor at KU and the story of the Lawrence windmill.
Through a grant from the LAC the play will be produced Aug. 8, 9, and 10 in conjunction with Civil War Days in August,
and with the Clinton Lake Historical Museum. Local historical information and windmill exhibits will be on display in the
Theatre's Gladys Six Green Room.
