Requesting a donation from Theatre Lawrence

The Lawrence area is full of wonderful organizations and individuals doing impactful work throughout our community. Please read this page for information on what we will support, and how to make a request.

ALL REQUESTS MUST NOW COME THROUGH OUR WEBSITE. WE WILL NOT CONSIDER REQUESTS SUBMITTED VIA MAIL, IN PERSON, OVER THE PHONE OR DIRECTLY EMAILED TO STAFF.

Theatre Lawrence believes in supporting our community whenever possible. However, we are also a non-profit organization that engages in our own fundraising events and we rely on ticket sales, sponsorships, and donations to maintain operations.

If we are able to support a fundraising event it will be through donations of tickets ONLY. We will not make a monetary contribution to any fundraisers.

Guidelines to qualify for a contribution

We have developed the following guidelines for determining if contributing tickets to a fundraiser is the right opportunity:

• Non-profits only
• Exception for media partners offering ticket give-a-ways to promote a show
• Should be located in, or provide services in Lawrence or Douglas county.
• The organization or cause should not conflict with our mission, or policies (such as anti-discrimination).
• No schools, churches, or religious organizations.
• Exceptions can be made if we are collaborating on a project or have a strong prior relationship.
• School exceptions might be considered if the request is specifically for a theatre department fundraiser or promotion. General program requests or requests for things such as post-prom will be denied.
• No individuals.
• Fundraisers for an individual (such as for medical care) will be considered if all funds are routed through a non-profit organization. No direct contributions to individuals.
• As a 501(c)(3) organization we cannot be perceived as endorsing any candidate or party. Therefore, no political candidates or fundraisers for a candidate or party.
• We will not contribute if the event is on the same date as, or within two weeks of, our annual fundraiser, or represents a major conflict with Theatre Lawrence programming.
• All requests must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the event.

In exchange for donating tickets, we do request to know how Theatre Lawrence will be acknowledged at the event.

Exceptions can be made on a case by case basis. These decisions will be made by the executive director whose decision is final.

If a request does not qualify for a ticket donation, the individual or organization making the request, always has the option to purchase tickets or gift certificate which they can giveaway if they choose.
