A native of Chicago, James holds a BFA in Technical Theatre and an MFA in Lighting Design from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He is currently writing his dissertation as a PhD candidate at the University of Kansas after passing his comprehensive exams with honors. In addition to design and scenic carpentry, he as taught at both KU and SIU in Popular culture, Stage Electrics, Introduction to Theatre, Theatre Technology and Lighting Design.
